Ottawa-Based Neterion Secures $14 Million in Financing

Leading VC VenGrowth Backs Leaders in High-Speed Networking

OTTAWA, On. — January 21, 2002 — Neterion Inc. (formerly S2io Inc.), a leading provider of high-speed server and mass storage solutions, today announced that it has secured a CDN $14 million investment. VenGrowth, Canada's Tier One venture capital firm, led the financing round with The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) as co-investor.

Neterion's innovative solutions will address the key performance/cost bottlenecks that exist at the server and mass storage network interface, while leveraging the cutting-edge technology of high-speed 10 Gigabit Ethernet networks. Pioneers in the industry, members of Neterion's management team were instrumental in developing and delivering the industries first 1Gigabit Ethernet network interface products.

The proceeds will be used for product development, operations, and sales and marketing initiatives. VenGrowth will hold two seats on the company's Board of Directors.
