10 Gigabit Ethernet Market Leader S2io Changes Name

Xframe® Vendor Becomes Neterion, Inc., In Move toward IPO

Cupertino, CA — January 24, 2005 — Today Neterion Inc. (formerly S2io Inc.), the industry leader in the emerging 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter market, announced that it has changed its name to Neterion, Inc. Neterion designs, manufactures and sells 10 Gigabit Ethernet solutions through major server and storage OEM customers.

"Today marks a significant milestone for the company. After the important OEM customer announcements of the past year, we are now in a new phase in our company's history, evolving from a hot Silicon Valley startup to an established, leading company of the future. We chose Neterion to be the powerful brand to lead us into this new era." said Dave Zabrowski, Neterion's President & CEO. "Neterion embraces our 'Net'work heritage, and conveys the promise of discovery and infinite possibilities that lie ahead. The new name will also properly position us in the eyes of the financial community as we build toward an anticipated IPO."

The new name underscores the company's commitment to high-performance, high-quality networking products. It conveys the core values of the company: "practical innovation" and its mission: developing sophisticated, creative new technologies grounded in customers practical needs.

Neterion stands for:

  • The criterion for networking technology
  • Evolutionary change that generates revolutionary increases in speed and efficiency
  • Continuous improvement of technology at a rate that customers can actually deploy
  • New applications that meet end-user needs, while protecting their investments

Neterion announced its first OEM customer, SGI, in May 2004. It signed a major technology partnership with Sun Microsystems in August 2004. In November, Neterion announced its second OEM agreement, Cray, for its XT3 line of supercomputers. And in December, the company announced its third major OEM customer, Hewlett-Packard, for its entire enterprise server line-up. The company will be making further product and customer announcements in the near future as other major Server and Storage OEMs finalize their solutions.
